The chief exorcist in the Vatican for 35 years, a Father Gabriele Amorth, was recently quoted (The Telegraph, Mar 11, 2010 and Times Online, March 11, 2010) as exclaiming, "The Devil is in the Vatican." Amorth admitted that inside the Vatican there are "cardinals who do not believe in Jesus and bishops who are linked to the Demon." He also added, "When one speaks of ‘the smoke of Satan’ (a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972 in the holy rooms), it is all true—including these latest stories of violence and pedophilia."
